Vicious Vikings!
10th Oct 2025
Our Primary 6 and 7 children have been enjoying learning all about the Vikings and their links to our local community.
Today, we got stuck into designing our own shields. During the week, we discussed the different weapons that Vikings would use and how they would use their shields as weapons and protection. We discussed all the colours that Vikings would have hand-painted their shields using dye from flowers, plants, charcoal and chalk and what each colour symbolised (e.g red for courage, strength and war).
We had a brilliant day designing and painting our shields; we can’t wait to continue seeing our designs come to life!
Well done boys and girls!
